ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Physics came into existence with the establishment of the college in 1987 with a sanctioned strength of 50 students. The Department of Physics offers Allied courses for Mathematics, Chemistry and offers Applied courses for Computer Science Students. The department’s dedicated and qualified faculty members are heavily involved in the administration of the institution. Beyond its two well-maintained and regularly upgraded teaching labs, the department provides dedicated research facilities where students can apply physics concepts and develop their innovative and creative skills through hands-on project work. The department emphasizes true understanding over rote memorization. This allows students to apply their knowledge to complex problem-solving, which is a core component of competitive examinations. Beyond scientific knowledge, these activities improve communication, teamwork, critical thinking and public speaking. This directly addresses the need for students to build confidence in presenting their ideas and engaging in discussions, skills that are vital for future careers and higher studies. The department brings experts from premier research institutions to campus, allowing students to learn about the latest trends, technologies and challenges in the field directly from those at the forefront of science. Guest lectures provide students with insights into real-world applications of their theoretical knowledge, which is crucial for their future careers. By inviting specialists from expects at institutions like IIT and ISRO, Central Universities the department elevates the quality of education and provides a competitive edge to its students.
VISION
- The department is devoted to imparting foundational and contemporary knowledge in physical science to first-generation learners from rural backgrounds by employing student- centered pedagogies that integrate traditional, modern and innovative teaching methods. Furthermore, the department is dedicated to fostering lifelong learning through a range of academic and socially oriented programs.
MISSION
- To equip students with a strong foundation in the core concepts of physics and the analytical skills necessary to excel in competitive examinations and real-world scientific challenges.
- To inspire students to pursue higher education and research in physics, while empowering them to become self-reliant and employable through the practical application of their knowledge.
- To provide learners with the tools and competencies required to expand our understanding of the universe and to address the scientific and societal challenges faced by individuals and communities.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
- To provide good quality education in physics that helps women students build confidence and strong basic knowledge.
- To support students in exploring different areas of physics and developing curiosity and interest in the subject.
- To train students in basic laboratory skills, experiments and simple data analysis needed for scientific work.
- To encourage women students to understand science and take part in scientific and technological development.
- To help students become lifelong learners through academic activities, teamwork and social involvement.
