Placement and Career Guidance Cell

         Placement and Career guidance cell is to guide students to choose right career and to give knowledge, skill, and aptitude and meet the manpower requirements of the Industry. The Placement and Career Guidance cell is working as a team to reduce the gap between the campus and corporate. Various activities are carried out to make them more employable as per the current scenario. The Placement cell firmly believes in Industry-Institute-Interaction. The activity includes managing stress, improving communication skills, developing confidence, exploring themselves on identification of values, resolving a personal problem, interests and personal strength needed for decision-making. It helps the students.

   To arrange periodical courses on personality development.

   To conduct Seminar, Special lectures, Career Guidance Programmes and Entrepreneurship.

   To get placed in National and Multinational companies through ON/OFF campus recruitment.

   To motivate and assist in industrial training and industrial visits.

   To arrange inplant training during the vacation.

   To Act as an information center for students in job opportunities and competitive examinations.

         This Cell makes earnest efforts to place the final year students in good jobs. Mock interviews are held to train the students to face interviews. Local schools and organizations approach the college for suitable candidates are helped by this cell in the selection of students. Campus interview are arranged by the Placement Cell in collaboration with companies.

   Inform students about the available job opportunities in government sectors and off campus drives.

   Arranging Motivational Talks.

SPORTS

         Sports is considered as a good and effective need for each and every one in this fast moving world, Which helps us to keep fit for the challenges. In our college Sports is considered as prestigious skills for student. We offer special consideration for the students who like to achieve in this field. The institute recognizes the importance of sportsman spirit and team effort for students. This can be learned in congenial environment through sports and games. For this the Campus has adequate sports facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure. Our Students have participated in various inter and intra college sports events throughout the year to enable the students to develop a spirit of healthy competition and team effort. The Campus has adequate sports infrastructure e.g. Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and several other indoor and outdoor games.


RULES AND REGULATIONS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT/“PESY” CLUB

   Warm up is given to the students every day before training.

   Sports students must practice for two hours (10.30 am to 12.00 pm) every morning.

   Also we offer two hours training in the evening before competition and in Saturdays and Sundays.

   Permission letter is needed from the students, signed by both the department head and class in charge for training during class hours.

   Students are taken to the competitions outside our college with the letter from the parents and the hostel students are taken to the competition with the hostel Amba’s permission.

   Attendance register is maintained regularly.

   We provide equipment to the students to practice at home.

   First aid box is available.

   Track suits are given to the students to wear during training and the sports footwear only is allowed during training.

   Penalty amount have to be paid if sports things are damaged or missed.

   PIt’s also the PET department’s duty to check the students who didn’t wear uniforms on the certain days in the week and to collect penalties from them.

Alumini (SARADA NANDINI)

         The main objective of Sri Sarada Niketan College Alumini Association is to strengthen the bond between the former students and the institution. It makes the Alumini aware of the existing programs in the institution. This association often organize social events publish newsletters. Many provide a variety of benefits and services that help Alumini maintain connections to their educational institutions and fellow graduates. Such groups often support new Alumini, and provide a forum to new friendships and business relationships with people of similar background. The Alumini association will be a bridge between the college and the old students of the college. All the students who have studied in our college were involve actively in the programme conducted by the association. Every student who completes orgranise Occasional gathering of the Alumini is sought to help the poor and deserving students and provide additional facility with the campus. It will arrange periodical meeting of the Alumini and special programs for the students. A healthy exchange of expert opinion and help is the hand-o-right aspect of the association. The fact that a large number of Alumini of this college now work in various countries spread around the world itself is an ample proof for the quality of education imparted in this institution. The Alumini of the college who are occupying eminent positions in India and abroad have close links with the college and are contributing to the growth and development of the college in a substantial way.

CONSUMER CLUB:


         CONSUMER CLUB is a consumer forum of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. The club will work on the motivational zeal of consumer groups and on the case of creating awareness among students at a very young age and through them the general public. We aim to build in children conscientiousness in doing what is right and boldness to question the wrong.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME:


         NSS volunteers generally work with adopted villages, slums and voluntary agencies to complete 120 hours of regular activities during an academic year. As per the fundamental principles of National Service Scheme, a volunteer is expected to remain in constant touch with the community. Special camps are organized generally on various developmental issues of national importance. In the past, the themes of the Special Camping Programme have been ‘Healthy Youth for Healthy India’, ‘Health, Public Sanitation and Personal Hygiene’.


Few specific objectives are:

   To understand the community in which they work.

   To understand themselves in relation to their community.

   To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.

   To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.

   To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.

   To develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.

   To gain skills in mobilizing community participation.

   To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.

   To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and

   To practice National Integration and social harmony.


The Motto :

         The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole.


Symbol :

         The symbol of the National Service Scheme is based on the ‘Rath’ wheel of the Konark Sun Temple situated in Orissa. These giant wheels of the Sun Temple portray the cycle of creation, preservation and release; signify the movement in life across time and space. It stands for NSS for social transformation and upliftment.


NSS Badge :

         The NSS volunteers wear an embossed badge while undertaking any programme of community service. The Konark wheel in the symbol has eight bars which represent the 24 hours of the day. The red colour in the badge indicates that the NSS volunteers are full of blood i.e. lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos, of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.


NSS Day :

         NSS was formally launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father of the nation. Therefore, 24 September is celebrated every year as NSS Day with appropriate programmes and activities.


YOUTH RED CROSS:


         The international Red Cross movement is the well-known and worldwide humanitarian organization, present in almost all the countries.The motto of Youth Red Cross (YRC) is “to serve”. The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red Cross Society. It is a group movement organized at the initial stages for students between 18 and 25 years of age within the colleges. Under the guidance of Programme Officer, the students are trained and encouraged to manage various programmes.


The fundamental principles of Red Cross movement are:

   Humanity

   Impartiality

   Neutrality

   Independence

   Voluntary service

   Unity

   Universality

   Red Cross society function with the one and only aim of serving people under distress without any consideration of caste, religion, language and nationality.


Youth Red Cross has the following three principles:

   Protection of health and life.

   Service to the sick and suffering.

   Promotion of national and international friendship to develop the mental and moral capacities of the youth.


Activities:

   Promotion of health and hygiene.

   Service to the needy people

   Relief work during emergencies like flood, fire and other natural calamities.

         Through RRC youth are encouraged to learn about safe and healthy lifestyles. The RRC promotes access to information on safe sexual behaviors and voluntary blood donation as well as enable them to become change agents in HIV & AIDS programme.


Care and Concern:

         It is being worn by increasing numbers of people around the world to demonstrate their care and concern about HIV and AIDS–for those who are living with HIV, for those who are ill, for those who have died and for those who care for and support those directly affected.


Hope:

         The Red Ribbon is intended to be a symbol of hope – that the search for a vaccine and cure to halt the suffering is successful and the quality of life improves for those living with virus.


Support:

         The Red Ribbon offers symbolic support for those living with HIV, for continuing education of those not infected, for maximum efforts to find effective treatments, cures or vaccines and for those who have lost friends, family members are loved ones to AIDS. But the Red Ribbons are not enough.


EXNORA:


         The name Exnora is derived from excellent, novel and radical ideas in solving environmental problems by involving those who caused the problem. It is an example of a people, public, private (PPP) partnership.

         The service objective of Exnora is to promote excellence in all fields like cultural activities, animal welfare, alternative medical systems, economic welfare of the poor, the drive against drug and alcohol abuse, the fight against child labour, the creation of traffic consciousness, the development of leadership.


Objectives:

   The golden objective of Exnora is to generate ideas on various issues and to act as a catalyst to help India and other developing countries to emerge as great nations in all spheres.

   The civic objective of Exnora is to inculcate and develop civic consciousness amongst citizens, to organize civic amenities on a self-help basis and thereby to create a healthier environment, and to take steps towards enactment of appropriate legislation for the betterment of civic standards.

   The service objective of Exnora is to promote excellence in all fields like cultural activities, animal welfare, alternative medical systems, economic welfare of the poor, the drive against drug and alcohol abuse, the fight against child labour, the creation of traffic consciousness, the development of leadership qualities in youth, the creation of consumer awareness, the preservation of historical and cultural monuments and the establishment of religious harmony.


BLOOD DONOR CELL

         Blood is universally recognized as the most precious element that sustains life.It saves innumerable lives across the world in a variety of conditions. Despite the increase in the number of donor,blood remains in short supply during emergencies mainly attributed to the lack of information and accessibility. Donating blood is safe and simple.It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the blood donation process.Any healthy adult blood is a life saving measure especially when you have a rare blood type. Blood type is determined by which antibodies and antigens the person’s blood produces.


         An individual has two types of blood groups namely ABO- grouping and Rh-grouping.Rh is called as the Rhesus factor that has come to us from Rhesus monkeys.Most humans are in the ABO blood group.The ABO group has four categories namely 1)A group 2)B group 3)O group 4)AB group.In the Rh-group either the individual is said to be Rh-negative or Rh-positive. Thus blood group of any human being will mainly fall in any one of the following groups-A positive or A negative,B positive or B negative,O positive or O negative,AB positive or AB negative.Type O individuals are often called “universal donor” since their blood can be transfused into persons with any blood type. Those with type AB blood are called “universal recipients” because they can receive blood of any type blood Donor Cell is maintaining an Inventory Register of voluntary blood donors.Blood Donation request form is available with the BDC and for all emergencies on need basis the donors are sent to authorized blood bank to profuse the blood along with an escort from college. The recipient parties have to produce the proof of ration card Xerox and medical officer’s certification for request along with the details of the blood group.

HOBBY CELL

         In recognition to the importance of hobby activities and its role in the bringing up of the youthful students, the college Students’ Hobby CELL has been formed with a view to also promotes further the cultural, sporting, social and scientific activities of the college. The Students’ Hobby Club in the College collaborates through various committees with the various Faculties in supervising the extra-curricular hobby activities, which aim at achieving the following objectives:


   To develop the talents of the students and improve their capabilities and assist them in acquiring useful knowledge and experience.

   To get the students accustomed to participating in social activities, to develop brotherly relations among them, and to develop a harmonious relationship based on mutual respect among themselves and their professors.

   To provide students with means of comfort, convenience and assurance.

   To associate students with their society and to enforce their feeling of belonging to their country and their nation.

Womens Cell

         For gender equality & gender justice in all its intervention & practices Woman Grievance Redressal Cell was established under the Act No. 20 of 1990 of Govt. of India .The Cell is responsible for looking into any complaints filed by students & staff about Woman Grievances at the college.


         The functions of the cell are to purely safeguard the rights of female students, faculty and staff members of women and also to provide a platform for listening to complaints. The Cell also tries to incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the college. It tries to equip them with the knowledge of their legal rights and redressal of their grievances. To facilitate speedy delivery of justice, meetings are organized regularly. The counseling cell processes oral and written complaints.Time to time the cell conducts seminars and lectures by specialists and eminent personalities to stop violence against women, sexual harassment at work and about health, hygiene etc.

Anti-Ragging Committee

         Ragging is strictly prohibited in this institution as per Government order. Names of those indulging in ragging will be instantly removed from the roll and further action will be taken as per Government order.


         During Class-Committee meetings, Heads of departments and Attendance in charge created awareness among students about prevention of ragging and other issues regarding ragging. The students were monitored, so that there was no chance of ragging. Information of the Class Committee meetings were discussed in the Anti Ragging Committee meetings held periodically.


         Till date no incident of ragging has been reported.

GANA SARADA

         ‘Gana Sarada’ is the the college choir directed by the Music Teacher of the college. Apart from training all students of the college in devotional,patriotic and personality development songs, the forum offers opportunities for talented singers to develop and exhibit their musical abilities.The members of Gana Sarada participate in Inter-collegiate,Inter-university and State-level musical competitions.
